Dominican Republic is much more than sun and sand. It is a destination that has it all; where you can do adventure tourism, mountaineering, ecotourism, cultural tourism and more. Currently, historical centers of Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo are being remodeled, while new cruise terminals are being built and projected. This is part of the strategy to reach 10 million foreign tourists by 2022, the date set by the Government to achieve that goal.
Dominican Republic is the first tourist destination in the Caribbean, and this privileged position is not the result of chance, but the permanent work that has been done between the private sector and the State. The country is being marketed as what it is: A tropical paradise where there is always something new to discover.
Moreover, Dominican Republic has a legal regime of incentives and tax benefits for the promotion of tourism development for poor development poles, new poles in provinces and towns of great tourist potential of the country, established by Law 158-01 for Promotion of Touristic Development.
