One of the main agricultural products that have positioned itself in the top of preferences of the international market, thanks to the quality of its flavor, its textures and nuances is Dominican cocoa.
 
In Latin America, DR is the sixth with best soils for crop diversification, the eighth largest producer of cocoa in the world and the first exporter of organic cocoa, product that generates substantial foreign currency to the national economy. The country is one of 15 countries in the world recognized as producers of gourmet cocoa. Among the main producers is Rizek Group, with the largest number of planted acres and the largest exporter. Followed Comercial Roig, which now has Agro Cacaco, and then there is Conacado, as a cooperative. It is estimated that the country has about 38 thousand producers of cocoa, 252,496,526.4 m2 of organic cocoa planted, accounting for 16.5% of 1,531,873,128 m2 cultivated of the fruit. The cocoa industry provides some 300,000 direct and indirect jobs, so the cultivation directly benefits some 140 thousand people.
